I started making collages when I was a teenager, but hit my stride in my early 20s, making cover designs for actual, fake, and unpublished books and magazines and for band gigs. Then the scene changed, the bands broke up, and I quit making visual work (with the occasional exception) for 37 years. Social media, weirdly, brought me back to the laboratory; I need to work to a crowd. And then the quarantine came along. All of a sudden I was in need of a form of expression that would bypass the usual cognitive pathways. My output has mushroomed. I don’t see myself quitting again anytime soon.
